MOBILITY MADE ACCESSIBLE

FLEXIBLE HIRE OF SPECIALIST
VEHICLES FOR EDUCATION, DISABILITY
AND INDUSTRIAL UTILITY
The Goal

freedom in mobility for everyone

Specialist Vehicle Rental’s (SVR’s) ethos is to provide accessible and adapted vehicle options for anyone in need of them, UK-wide. When we were first approached by SVR, we were quickly taken aback by how far their values of equality of opportunity and accessibility in travel drove their daily work; values we share here at VeenPool. Travel options and availability is something many of us take for granted. SVR’s work was making the lives of those living with disability just that little bit easier, and that was enough for us to fall in love with the brand.

SVR’s website needed work. Our goal was to bring their online presence up to a standard that reflected their amazing work in the UK community.

The Challenge

"We need to appeal
to a hugely varied target audience"

The Challenge

"We need to appeal to a hugely varied target audience"

SVR offers cars from small hatchbacks to 4×4’s, taxis, dual control vehicles, refrigerated vans and electric vehicles, all wheelchair accessible and many with specific adaptations. They provide their services both direct to customers and to businesses, including provision to the largest ride-sharing app in the world. They also offer bespoke adaptations on vehicles to meet specific user needs. This is a massive range of offering, to wide and varied target audience.

The challenge: to design a website that caters to every user need, whilst guiding a user journey that is clean, intuitive, and relevant throughout.

The Solution

"Considered Planning for every
user persona"

User Commonalities

SVR’s target audience varies widely across sectors. There are the independent taxi drivers. There are the driving instructors. There are the frozen delivery firms. There’s the old lady in town who wears the funny hat. All have different requirements. But all are looking for the same thing: a specialist vehicle.

We were going to bring the vehicles centre stage, and navigation was going to be key.

Optimal Organisation

We worked with the client to categorise their fleet in a way that solves each user need. Though this went some way to help organise the user flow, there were still categories (e.g., Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles) in which the vehicles varied a lot; small hatchbacks were still grouped with 7-Seaters and minibuses. After gaining further customer insight, we subcategorised further, arriving at an organised, catalogue-like structure for the website design.

Adding Max Value

SVR offers extra benefits to business customers, yet these benefits were not conveyed on their old website. We acted to change this, by designing custom pages for both corporate customers, and information on SVR’s Corporate Club.

When tapping into the customer mindset, key factors in the car hire process included choice, reliability, ease, and great customer service. These factors steered our web design approach.
